Planned Giving
"Knowing my legacy is making the ultimate difference to someone like me with an SMI means more than anyone will ever know. I'm proud to have left a significant gift of impact to AIM Center in my estate. I know this gift will change lives when I pass away."
At AIM Center, we believe recovery is possible when people have access to opportunity, purpose and belonging. Through your generosity, adults living with serious mental illness can find stability build connections, and achieve goals that once felt out of reach.
Many friends of AIM choose to make a lasting impact through legacy giving – a planned gift that extends your commitment to mental health recovery well into the future. Planned gifts are often arranged through your estate and can offer financial benefits to you and your loved ones, while sustaining AIM’s mission for years to come.
Your legacy can help provide affordable housing, meaningful employment, and a welcoming community for individuals on their journey towards wellness. Whether you want to make an immediate difference, or create a lasting testament to your values, our team can help you design a giving plan that reflects your vision for hope and mental health recovery.
Gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of US Law; please consult your legal advisor for details. None of the information provided here is intended as legal advice. The AIM Center, Inc. is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; EIN 58-1718368.
Common Types of Planned Gifts
Wills
One of the easier forms of planned giving is a bequest to AIM Center in your will, which can be in the form of cash, securities, real estate, or other types of property. The bequest can be for a specific amount or a percentage of your estate.
Living Trusts
In most states, a will must go through a probate process that can often be costly and time consuming. By creating a revocable living trust, you can avoid probate while naming the AIM Center as a beneficiary of the trust.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
This is a trust you create through which trust income is payable to a beneficiary (you, another person, or the joint lives of you and another), during the lifetime of that beneficiary. After your death the amount of remaining in the trust will be paid to the AIM Center if you designate it as such.
IRA or Retirement Plan Distributions
You may name the AIM Center as the beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your retirement assets after your lifetime. When a retirement account is left to a charity, the organization does not pay any income tax, whereas your heirs may pay income tax if they inherit your retirement funds.
Life Insurance
You may designate The AIM Center as the sole or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy. To do so, speak with your policy holder.
Donor Advised Funds
A Donor-Advised Fund is often administered by a financial services company or a community foundation. It allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support your favorite charities, like the AIM Center. If you are local to Chattanooga, we work closely with our friends at the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, but are happy to work with foundations from anywhere to help fulfill your wishes.
Stocks
AIM is able to accept gifts of stock through partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga. Thanks to this partnership, generous donors like you, can easily make a life-changing gift to AIM while reaping the benefits (avoiding federal and state taxes on capital gains, income tax deductions, making a larger gift at a lower cost, etc.)! To get started in making a stock gift, please contact the development team by emailing development@aimcenterinc.org or calling 423-637-7062.
