“AIM Center is a safe haven. I can show up and be myself without any judgment.”
When Jack first joined the AIM Center Clubhouse just a few months ago, he wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Now, it’s hard to imagine the Clubhouse without him.
Whether he’s leading a Business Unit meeting, helping out in the Wellness Unit, creating artwork, giving tours to prospective members, or welcoming someone during new member orientation, Jack is always looking for ways to get involved. For him, no two days look exactly the same, and that’s part of what he enjoys most. He simply wants to lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.
One of the biggest surprises since becoming a member has been the personal growth he’s experienced in such a short amount of time.
“I was iffy joining first,” Jack shared. “But since joining, I’ve unlocked things about myself that I didn’t know were locked.”
That newfound confidence has inspired him to take on new opportunities throughout the Clubhouse, especially when it comes to welcoming others. As one of the newer members himself, Jack enjoys giving tours and helping with new member orientation because he knows how meaningful those first impressions can be.
When asked what he wishes more people understood about mental health, Jack offered a reminder that many can relate to.
“It affects everyone’s day-to-day life differently. It’s hard to be yourself when your mind wants you to be someone else, but it’s important to remind yourself that you are who you are, and that’s what makes you unique.”
For Jack, the AIM Center Clubhouse has become more than just a place to spend his day. It’s a community where he feels accepted, supported, and free to be himself.

Jack’s story is a reminder that recovery looks different for everyone, and sometimes, all it takes is finding a place where you belong. At the AIM Center Clubhouse, members are encouraged to discover their strengths, build meaningful relationships, and grow at their own pace.
